Thanks once again to fabiohnk5, we are now able to offer you an English translation of the Level Up system in Shin Hokuto Musou/Ken's Rage 2!.
We will finish up with a summary of Skills present in both Hokuto Musou, and Shin Hokuto Musou!

As your character progresses throughout the game, they will become stronger.
In addition, your acquired "Meridian points" can be used to upgrade your equipment, increasing their level of state so that you can then take advantage of special Skills.

Detailed analysis of the "Equipment" Screen:

In the top left corner titled "Equipment", a little further down on the right in a box for what we see seems to be able to accommodate up to 15 sequences or types of equipment, we find 14 potential triplets from which to choose and combine, formed by five parameters: Life, Aura, Attack, Defence and Technique which then add ("+" sign) a specific skill or ability.

High above the panel there is an item called "Level" and it is important to note that scrolling to the right side you can access 6 other statistics for a total of 7 items.
Starting from the 2nd called "Parameters Assembly" (pictured right) there will be a further five that are positioned in order to facilitate the display of icons potentially inserted into the Grid:
- 3 ° : Life (In Relation to the Hyakuretsuken)
- 4 ° : Aura
- 5 ° : Attack
- 6 ° : Defence
- 7 ° : Technique

Interestingly, the Life parameter is connected with the Hyakuretsuken Technique, which expands in Growth.

At the bottom right is the name of the Skill 秘孔封じ highlighted and a brief description:
"+" "Secrets of Pressure Points inhibited: It will be easier to recover from the effects caused by the attack of pressure points."
Let's look at the left side, here are central squares formed by five horizontal rows, each of them from "top to bottom represents 5 Sets Fitted as can be seen that we have apparently decided to choose by selecting from the range of Sets available on the right side. Now we get into the detail of the left side compared to what we see starting from the top, we try to take as much information as possible with respect also to our level of knowledge from the previous game.


1) Equipment Set 1: A complete sequence formed by the Life, Defence & Aura Attributes has reached level 6 and is supported ("+" sign) by Skill 勝利への執念 that we learned about in the first game with the term of "Dedication". Here below Name and effects known to us: "Dedication: Fill slowly, but steadily, the "Aura Indicator".

2) Equipment Set 2: Incomplete because it is formed only by the Attributes technique and Life, has reached level 4 and is supported ("+" sign) by Skill 練気の達人 that we learned about in the first game with the term "effectiveness". Here below Name and effects known to us: "Effectiveness: Reduces charging time for charge attacks."

3) Equipment Set 3: Incomplete, formed by the Attributes technique and Aura, has reached level 3 and is supported ("+" sign) by the new Skill 秘孔封じ as earlier described in the bottom right hand corner. "Secrets of Pressure Points inhibited: It will be easier to recover from the effects caused by the attack of pressure points"

4) Equipment Set 4: Is incomplete because it is formed only by the Attributes Attack and Aura, has reached level 2 and is supported ("+" sign) by Skill 金剛身 we have learned as to the first game with the term "armor." Here below Name and effects known to us: "Armor: Allows you to stop powerful attacks"

5) Equipment Set 5: This is complete, formed by Defence, Aura and Technique, has reached level 4 and for the first time we note that there is no specific skill alongside it(no "+" sign).

We note at the centre of the grid marked "Triple Chain Connection", which makes reference to the three Aura parameters placed vertically.

In the lower left shows the numerical values of the 5 parameters at our disposal: Life_10, Aura_24, Attack_2, Defence_10 and Technique_17. Finally, we assume that there may be some connection between these values individually.

Following today's Event held at "Yamada Denki Lab1" in Ikebukuro, we learnt of a New Trailer (Not yet available to show) being shown, and 3 Characters being added as DLC!.
The Identity of the characters is still a secret, but this will now fuel much speculation amongst the fans on who they would like to see :lol: .

This evening, we received news from Japan, informing us of Shin Hokuto Musou scoring 9/9/9/10 (37/40) in Japanese Gaming Magazine Weekly ファミ通 (Famitsu)! More details (and hopefully a scan) to follow as they become available.

The score has been greeted with much optimism from fans worldwide. We'll keep you updated on any information, with as regards to comments and alike made in the Review.

Following a very busy day, we are now able to offer you a translation in full from both Japanese Reviews for the game, (with thanks as always to KOEI Warriors' BlackKite) first from Famitsu, who as we learnt earlier today rated the game 37/40. Here is a detailed explanation of the scores.

Compared to the prequel, the Musou excitement can be felt better. Not only the manga original story, but what-if stories can also be enjoyed. Controls and Difficulty are also good. Can be enjoyed by a wide audience. Battle against Common enemies might become a bit tedious though.

Fans will be greatly fulfilled with the re-enactment of the manga story in Legend mode. The excitement is greatly increased with the addition of evasion & dash moves. (When the camera is) close to the wall it becomes difficult to see characters though. They did a good job in creating the main characters anyway. The story is also Comprehensive.

Motions are lighter now so the excitement can be felt better. Many famous scenes are added so you can almost fully understand the manga story to the end. Illusion mode also has its own Original Stories and unexpected characters can also be used (Rin?). Battlefield is moderately large so it's easy to play.

With a drastic change from the prequel, it becomes an action game with good tempo. Actions are flashy and have excitement, making you feel good playing it. Events are very cool. Even with only the main mode there is a lot of volume, and there is also Illusion mode, so it lives up to the (HnK) 30th Anniversary crown.

The actions have been changed, so that all movements are twice the speed of the previous game. Attack range is also lengthened which makes it easier to play. Character addition is also increased. Legend mode's volume is great. Maybe it could be better if they could increase the map density in Illusion mode. Event scenes also have too many static scenes that make it a bit lonesome.

The action is faster and Common Enemies are also numerous which makes the Musou feel stronger. Finisher variations are added but normal attacks basically stay the same. You cannot freely do jump attacks though (since jump is gone, probably they mentioned some attacks that look like jump attacks). It is also almost impossible to do a cancel attack which might make the battle a bit repetitive. Camera is at times awkward, and is prone to block some characters, thus making it difficult to see their attacks. There are character levels but the sense of getting stronger is thin. Legend mode's volume is perfect.

Stressful features are reduced and evasive moves are added which makes it easier to play. Playable characters are increased, as well as multi-player modes. They could've done better on the Level-up system (the one to strengthen characters). Volume-wise, the manga story is being displayed from the beginning to end, and there is also original Illusion mode which can be enjoyed as well.

The system is completely overhauled from the prequel, thus making it fresh to play. Being able to recreate the important parts of the manga is great. Game volume is commendable, but there are many parts that can't be separated well by episodes. Graphics & Representations are relatively plain. The feel of beating common enemies is more satisfactory, but it would've been even better if it were more exciting.
